cradle2cradle

No.1 Letter to Annie Leonard
Dear Annie,

Thank you for your wonderful contribution to this global and complex issue. An issue that I've been concerned about for a long time. An issue that I studied and researched myself for the last 10 years.

The interesting thing of your animation, is that it's not only about matter and pollution. It also shows us a glimpse of social (needy people) and organizational (greedy people) failing elements, that are supporting its prevailence. I figured out: this is about energy in general; material as well as immaterial.

You'd agree, that personally we are in a similar kind of linear decline, leading us to same extraction of various personal resources. Being speciallized in enhanced sustainability, I find that also the less visible - and less acceptable energetical issues - form another major part of this and other global issues. More so, they form a major part of an integrated solution.

For that reason I would be honoured to share some of my knowledge with you and know what you think of it. In Dutch, we make a clear difference between 'ge'-bruiken' (make use of) and 'ver-bruiken' (use up, consume). Switching from 'verbruiken' to 'gebruiken', to a natural cycle, is where this is about. I have found that this counts for raw material (earth), as well as for les material energy as well, represented by the other elements: water, fire, air and ether (space). I give you two examples.

For instance soil is healed with effective micro-organism (EM). These are bacteria, that have been destroyed by chemicals commercial farming uses to 'upgrade & protect' the soil and crop. These good bacteria fill up a (two-step) gap in the natural cyclus, by eating the poisson and transforming it to mineralized food for the plants.

Watermolecules (H20)are copying other molecules, by forming clusters with the same characteristics. This 'information' stays in the water after the fysical molecules have been filtering out it (see: homeopathy). Accumulating all these clusters, our tap water becomes poissoned, whereas in nature the information is reset. By the time the water meanders through streams and the clusters are shattered by whirlpools. The water regains its natural quality, being recycled back through the whole system.

In the same way, more essential elements are in decline, supporting the linear proces you discribed. I think, bending the linear-system to a natural 'cradle2cradle' cyclus, will need consciousness about how all elements (co)work, also the less tangible ones. I'm looking forward to also see these explained.

Consciousness about the other elements is crucial. Like you said, the change can (and has to) be made by many people, at many points of intervention. I add: in many essential, authentical and structural ways.

Thank you very much for your super work and positive energy (including your humor). You make a difference.

All the best,

Alec Boswijk
